Hair Doll Mania Strikes San Francisco

Let’s be honest: The Mayor and The Hair is driven by our unwavering fidelity–on every level–to Gavin Newsom and Jesse Katsopolis. We don’t do this for the fame, but it’s certainly an unexpected and much-welcomed side effect. Though, as much as we would like to take credit for our fans’ incredible devotion, we are under no delusion that we alone inspire such zeal. Anyone or anything associated with JesseGav is turned to gold.

So, it is no surprise that our hair dolls have spread through this city as fast as Vespa scooters and tapered jeans. (Seriously, have you been to the Haight lately?) JesseGav disciples are making good use of our new “contact us” feature, inundating our web server with photos of their home-crafted hair dolls. One such fan, Nona Morris, sent us a photo of her and her boyfriend, Jacob O’Donnell. Poor schlub–she told him she’d made the hair doll from his (and, might I add, copious) hair. I would venture to say that Nona is nearly as diehard as Alex and I; she carries her hair doll with her everywhere she goes. Last Saturday night at The Bubble Lounge–in the middle of the dance floor–she seized the opportunity for a public hair doll photo op. Brave Katsopolista, you inspire us all.
